Day 42 - Apalachicola to Perry

I slept about 11 hours total yesterday and woke up all clammy and icky. Thought I wouldn’t be able to ride, but I got ready to go anyway. Took some Advil and headed off to breakfast. Today there was a hotel waiting at the end of our 100 miles. After a hideous breakfast of cold french toast and more Advil we headed out. I started to feel ok while riding, the sun was shining in our faces making everything appear in silhouette. It was very flat riding, we were averaging 18.5 miles per hour when we got to checkpoint. An uneventful checkpoint where I ate a little – then rode onward, it felt better to keep moving than sit still. We checked into our uninspired hotel room, immediately rode down the road to Wendy’s for an afternoon snack and then back to our rooms to wait for dinner. Keri and I got a room much bigger than Bob and Sig’s, so we stored Bob’s bike in our room. Our dinner was down the street, I didn’t eat much of the trough, still had a sore throat and not feeling great, but the day ended up surprisingly better than I had hopped for.
